Beavers: Engineering America
A National Trails Day event
Join the Lake George Land Conservancy on Saturday, June 1 to celebrate National Trails Day and explore our Amy's Park Preserve, a home to the incredible beaver.
All ages welcome!
Date: Saturday, June 1
Time: 6:30- 7PM (this is an evening walk)
Location: Amy's Park
Cost: Free, but you must register here!
The beaver has changed the American landscape more than any creature other than Man. Its industrious nature and hardy disposition allow it to create suitable habitat wherever it goes. Valuable beaver fur fueled development, westward expansion, and war in the infancy of our country.
Join NYS DEC Wildlife Technician Jessica Haggerty as she leads an evening guided hike through Amy’s Park and learn about the natural and political ways this humble rodent has shaped the landscape, and our country.
This walk also coincides with National Trails Day! National Trails Day is the only nationally coordinated event designed to unite all muscle-powered trail activities with the goal of connecting more people to trails. Each year, on the first Saturday of June, American Hiking Society and the trails community invite Americans of all ages and abilities to find their own adventure and discover their unique story at one of the thousands of events hosted throughout the country.
